When decent honorable people go to war, they wear uniforms so as to identify themselves as combatants. Islamic terrorists do not wear uniforms. Neither do they target military facilities. You wrote that it is said that the News & Record reported there had been 16 school shootings this year. This is just some more of your zeal to try to find something to criticize the newspaper for. When a gun is fired on school properties, students are at a high risk of being hit by a bullet regardless of the motives of the shooter. Anytime a gun is fired on a school campus it is a school shooting, period.

I recently read your piece about the City Council meeting where they discussed the panhandler issue. The second paragraph of your piece there said that the issue of the panhandlers was a higher priority than city issues such as water rates, streets, police protection, property taxes, etc., etc., on and on. And, so, when I read that I wow, this just indicates what we have and the lack of leadership in our community at the City Council level. We’ve got people there who are arguing for hours over an issue such as panhandlers that could be solved quickly. It could be quickly just as you said. Stop giving these people money, and they will go away. So, great coverage. Enjoyed reading it. And thank you again for what you do here in our community to keep us informed.

It seems like every time there’s a school shooting people start blaming the guns. And then it comes out that the student that did it was bullied and/or ostracized and just didn’t quite fit in. These high school kids have got to stop with their snobbery and ostracizing people who maybe don’t quite have the money that they have, or maybe don’t have the nice clothes they have, or maybe doesn’t look the way they want them to look. They’ve got to quit ostracizing these people and acting like they don’t fit in. Because at that age, school is everything to these kids. Because most of them have no home life because both parents are working. They come home to an empty house and school is all they have. Well, it’s Wednesday, and Fox News is recording that these football players can stay in the locker room during the national anthem, or they can come out and stand. That’s exactly what I said a year ago. If some of the veterans that fought in World War II, of course, the Korean War, too, they walked around in Korea, I understand, in 40-below zero with the wind blowing, if they could think about what some of them people do. And it was related to probably some of these football players. They should be ashamed of their self. They really should be ashamed of their self. My thinking is, they ought not bring them out. Hey, I live over here in Kernersville. And I’m starting to wonder, what’s going on over here on the main road over here where the Hardee’s, and Papa John’s and Lowes Foods and Speedway and all this is. Because they have been working on a section of road that is less than a half a mile long. And it’s took them a year and a half to do it. And the average construction crew, like D.H. Griffin, could have built a highway by now. We’re just curious. Is this going to be milking out of our money? Or is this construction crew just sitting back and twiddling their fingers and getting paid to just stand around? Or do they actually have a set deadline? Or what’s the story behind this? Teachers need to quit their complaining and go to work and be appreciative of their jobs. They’re constantly complaining about money they don’t have, of money they don’t make in their salaries. And it’s just not true. Teachers make in 10 months what it takes most of us 12 months to make. Not to mention a nice benefit package, nice retirement plan, every paid holiday off. It’s just unbelievable. They need to quit their bellyaching and go back to work. Now, if they want to stage a walkout right at the end of the year, they’ll be showing how intelligent they aren’t, because the school systems would have the whole summer to replace them. I’ve been reading The Sound of the Beep, and there are some people in 2018 who still think that teachers only work nine months out of the year. North Carolina teachers started working 10 months and plus several weeks in about 1975. And I think that was 43 years ago. This is in reference to the city councilmembers and the nonprofits in east Greensboro, a lot of funds and so forth. I have tried to reach Mayor Vaughan and other members to get them to comment on why there was no audit or financial accountability needed before this was done. And no one will return my call. It had been my experience that the past that a councilmembers choose not to comment or return calls if the question requires some explanation that is being asked. But I would like to know what percentage of these grants goes to salaries, and who are these people they’re going to. If you could ask Mayor Vaughan or Ms. Hightower point blank to reply, they will not reply to the phone call. Maybe your interest or the press interest could motivate them to reply to these questions.

Yes, I’m calling. They’ve got a law proposing down here in North Carolina here about people they deem may not being in good possession of a mind to own firearms. But the problem with this law is this, you could have a jealous girlfriend to try to wreak havoc toward her boyfriend. And he’s 40 years of age. And he’s got an old rifle and a shotgun and pistol. So, they have a court order issued for 10 day. And they remove the guns to the home. And I would suppose that a judge or whoever rules on that wouldn’t turn it down, because they don’t want to be out in case something bad. Anyway, they take the firearms away for 10 days. Then they go back to court, maybe, and the judge says, uh, this, and that, and he would take on 20 more days. It will be 30 days. Then it will be 90 days. It will be just a really drawn out process. Because we know once you get a law on the book like that, you’ve got somebody going to step up and keep adding on.

Just this couple of things. This new movie that’s out with Jane Fonda in it, I suggest and hope that everybody will boycott that thing. She’s a traitor and was never tried for what she did during the Vietnam conflict. Regardless of how you thought about that, she was possibly responsible for a number of injuries to American soldiers because of her action in North Vietnam. The other thing is, these shootings that have happened in Texas and Florida happened to be all white. I haven’t seen Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton down there helping these folks. Are they racists? After 66 years of living in Greensboro, my house is for sale. I’m evacuating because of high poverty, high eviction rates, increasing crime in a once middle-class area, declining test scores in our schools and increased need for affordable housing within the city limits. Greensboro has become a haven for the poor, the needy and too-often the criminal. Just last week the panhandler guidelines and restrictions came under fire because the rules might be considered racist. So two so-called leaders, you receive an A+ for destroying the once vibrant city. Say goodbye to your tax base as more and more taxpayers move beyond the city limits. No industry is coming to Greensboro because of the above-mention deterioration of the city. Job well done City Council. You’ve killed Greensboro.

No, they’re not. City Council don’t care about nobody but their self and what money they can steal from people. They should be arrested, all of them, and take Earl Jones with them. Talked to a real nice lady three or four days ago and told her about all these people running red lights and stop signs and flying down the roads and breaking the law. How many years of college would a man have to have to be able to put a man with a gun and a metal detector at every school door, which would be one going in, to make sure nobody brought a gun in a school? Hello, Beep. Another happy day in Greensboro. I just come down Yanceyville Road across from the Palmer Plaza Shopping Center. School bus stopped picked up the school kids. Car went by and didn’t even slow down. Now, what could be another way, kids getting run over. Our Police Department won’t do anything about it. They’re too sorry. Not our officers, our department. We’ve got some good police officers, but the department is sorry. Chief of police is sorry. He don’t need that job. The mayor don’t need her job. Something is going to change in Greensboro. It’s got to happen. I’ve talked to a communication department at the Police Department. They’re supposed to – about everything I thought should be changed or an idea about these fools running around here running red lights and speeding, and no tags or insurance on their car, windows are too dark, can’t see in them. She told me a traffic officer will be getting in touch with me. Well, that was last week. So, that was a waste of time.
