The Carroll Family Foundation, along with The Carroll Companies – a Greensboro-based company that formerly owned the Rhino Times – have donated a very generous gift to help the massive relief effort in the wake of Hurricane Helene: a combined $1 million to help those affected by the storm, some of whom lost everything.

The Companies are doing more on top of that as well.

In addition to the $1-million donation, The Carroll Companies have donated several truckloads of supplies to the Asheville area where the company operates apartment complexes and BeeSafe storage locations.

Roy Carroll, the owner of The Carroll Companies, stated that the tragedy hitting so close to home has deeply moved him and his family – the same way many Greensboro families must be feeling after seeing the horrifying images on the news.

“This has been a tough week for a lot of people in western North Carolina,” Carroll said. “ My wife and I have not been able to rest much this week out of concern for all the people dealing with Helene’s aftermath. We have approximately 1,500 residents in the Asheville area that have had to deal with no electricity, no communications, and no water.”

He added, “While power has thankfully been restored to our properties, water is still a major concern. We sent 17,000 bottles of water to our residents this week, and our engineers are exploring other options for water since it could take the City of Asheville weeks to restore water service to our communities.”

The Carroll Companies also sent supplies to Boone and the surrounding area last weekend. Those supply shipments included generators, water, and Starlink systems.

The Boone Police Department didn’t have communications after the storm until they received The Carroll Companies Starlink system.

Carroll said, “Western North Carolina not only has our prayers, but also our full financial support. We will do everything we can to help our neighbors in need. We hope this will inspire others to do what they can as well.”

The Carroll Companies – founded and headquartered in Greensboro over 30 years ago has since grown and diversified through the decades into a real estate conglomerate that specializes in land development, construction, ownership, management, and publication with a total estimated valuation of over $5.2 billion.

The Carroll Companies were founded by Roy Carroll II in 1983 with a stated commitment of “surpassing industry expectations by providing innovative, cost-effective developments and services.”
