The annual open house for the Eastern Music Festival is Sunday, July 21 at Guilford College. It’s an afternoon of free concerts open to the public and it marks beginning of the last week of the 2019 Eastern Music Festival which ends Saturday, July 27.
Since June 22 the Eastern Music Festival has been the home for over 265 young artists studying classical music and performance with 75 faculty and world-class guest artists and teachers.
The open house events begin with a percussion ensemble concert at 1 p.m. in Dana Auditorium. A guitar orchestra concert will be held at 2:15 in the Carnegie Room at Hege Library. Pianopalooza is at 3 p.m. in Sternberger Auditorium.
And beginning at 4:15 p.m. nine conducting scholars will each lead the Eastern Music Festival Orchestra. This concert will feature the music of Beethoven, Weber, Mendelssohn Wagner, Berlioz, Dvorak, Humperdink, Debussy and Brahms.
For those who prefer to listen to music outdoors at 6 p.m. Music for a Sunday Evening in the Park (MUSEP) will be held on the Founders Lawn at Guilford College with the Piedmont Triad Jazz Orchestra.
