This week North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson “wholeheartedly” endorsed Republican 6th District congressional candidate Lee Haywood.
In most cases endorsements don’t mean a whole lot. They seem to be more important to candidates then to voters. However, Robinson’s endorsement is different.
In the North Carolina Republican Party Robinson is a rising star who will almost certainly be a candidate for governor in 2024.
In a video released by the Haywood campaign Robinson says that he “wholeheartedly” endorses Haywood. The press release quotes Robinson saying, “We cannot go wrong with Lee Haywood because this man is a fighter. We need to send Lee Haywood to Washington, DC.”
In the press release Haywood said, “This district is where I have lived for over 50 years. I’m ready, able, and willing to win this race and take back Congress. We must restore common sense to Washington, DC.”
Haywood is one of seven Republican candidates vying for the nomination to run in the general election in November. Haywood was the Republican 6th District candidate in 2020 and lost that race to 6th District Congresswoman Kathy Manning.
However, the congressional districts in the state have been redrawn and the current 6th District drawn by and approved by the courts is more favorable to Republicans than the 6th District was in 2020.
Robinson was made famous by an impromptu three-minute speech to the Greensboro City Council in 2018 on Second Amendment rights. The video of that speech went viral with millions of views.
In 2020 Robinson made his first run for office and was easily elected NC lieutenant governor. He is definitely a rising star in the North Carolina Republican Party and his endorsement is one of the more sought after endorsements of Republican candidates in the state.
The other Republican 6th District candidates are Christian Castelli, Mary Ann Contogiannis, Laura Pichardo, Bill Schuch, Gerry Austin and Marvin Boguslawski.
Mark Robinson is just another homophobic modern republican that doesn’t believe in science and wants to makes big deal about being anti-abortion yet paid for his wife’s abortion before they were married. I will be sure to NOT vote for anyone he endorses.
Hmmmmmmmmm, Republicans are modern homophobes? I am neither modern nor homophobic. Got any opinions based on facts, Chris?
Good to see another old school Republican then.
Ron D wants to bankrupt teachers that speak about homosexuality or transexuals. And he is an early front runner for 2024 Republican nomination for President. Evidence enough for me that the Republican party homophobic. But good on you for not be a modern republican.
But get your head out of the sand and pay attention to how Trumpers like Ron D and Budd are destroying real freedoms in this country. The Freedom of speech, freedom to be different, and the freedom to disagree. Ron D is using legislative power to try and stop a company from legally opposing his political agenda. If that isn’t authoritarianism, what is? Sounds more like a Putin move than a move of a potential candidate for president. But Trump made that kind of behavior popular.
Think before you vote.
No, Ron DeSantis wants to prevent little children from being exposed to sexual deviancy.
The state has no business addressing sexuality in a classroom of 7 year old in the first place, let alone sexual perversion.
Leftists are sick, and want to rob little children of their innocence. Like you, Chris.
Same sex couples are not deviants. People who want to shame people for the way God made them are deviants.
May I ask Chris if he reads The Bible? Are you or have you been introduced to “Thou shalt not Kill”? It seems that there are a great many if not all of the Democratic Party that have left their foundation of Biblical teaching(in favor of abortions)!
The Catholic faith does not believe in abortions,Joe Biden flips back and forth from being a Catholic to wanting abortions. It seems that once you have made a choice, there is no going back.
You know what Chris, if it weren’t for the fact that I’ve known Lee for a while and consider him a friend, and the fact that I’ve known Mark for a few years consider him a very good friend that I admire and respect I would vote for both of them simply because of your statements.
Both men are honorable and care about the people. Both men will tell exactly where they stand on an issue and if you disagree, oh well.
I do have one piece of advice for you…let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
Mark called for anyone that supports mandates for vaccines to be executed! How is that caring for others?
You only like Mark because he is homophobic as you likely are….
You only like Mark because he is anti-science as you likely are…
You only like Mark because he using the politically divisive language that you do in your letters to the editors…
But you be you. I support your right to be wrong as much as I support my right to point the alternative view.
“You only like Mark because he is homophobic as you likely are….
Really? Well Chris, FYI, my baby brother was gay (God rest his soul) and I loved him right up to his death. In fact, spent days with him right up to his passing. The fact that he was gay meant nothing to me.
As for the rest here’s some advice passed on to by my grandmother…”better to remain silent and be thought of as stupid then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
Chris The Creep is a very unpleasant and bitter personality.
And thank you for your service in the military, Alan.
Well, way to turn your back on your gay family Alan by promoting a blatant homophobic creep.
Am even more disappointed in you than I ever have. Always assumed you were a decent guy that just had poor political views, now I see you even put your political views over family. Sad.
Thank you Lt. Gov. Robinson for an endorsement as to whom to vote for in this important race. It’s going to take someone who isn’t afraid to run a race with integrity, honesty, decorum, class, values, and tenacity to win over Manning. She’s a tough cookie and has name recognition. The person will need to stress the fact that they won’t waste taxpayer money on projects that are wasteful and unnecessary during a recession such as converting government vehicles to electric ones, funding free education for college students and free daycare, funding charitable organizations and art programs, pushing for national healthcare or expanding Medicaid. They need to support police and emergency services funding as well as encourage stricter bail and sentencing laws. They need to stress immigration reform that will solve our issues with illegal immigration and change the process of legal immigration to shorten the process and make it less expensive and fewer years to become a US citizen. There needs to be tax reform on the federal level and a serious consideration once again of a flat tax for all citizens, a serious look at Medicare and Social Security payments to retirees, and someone who is adult enough to talk to the nation and be honest about the state of our economy. Someone needs to talk about the foreign issues we’re involved in presently and honestly state their stance on how they would vote should they have to if the Administration wanted to declare war. They need to know where they stand on important issues like funding the military, climate funding, and understand that issues like abortion, gender, misinformation, inequity, and race are just distractions to keep everyone from being united as a country with a national focus. We need a bold representative, at least that’s who I’ll be looking for. Manning is a lemming, and I won’t be voting for her in the primary. If Haywood speaks boldly, he’ll get my vote. If not, I’ll look elsewhere.
Mark, if you have any ambitions for higher office, you need to lose some weight.
He’s one of the good guys. I’m not voting for him because he’s hot. That’s up to his wife (and none of our business).
Frankly, I wish he were President of the United States. We would be a lot better off.
