High Point isn’t quite New York City yet when it comes to sports offerings, however, in recent years the addition of the High Point Rockers baseball team and now, a new Major League Soccer NEXT team – the Carolina Core Football Club – the city has some fine sports offerings for local fans.
Right now, the talk of the town is on the new pro soccer team, which, on Thursday, Sept. 14, is going to hold what the team is billing as a “momentous event” – a large brand reveal party and a chance to get the community behind the team from the start.
Founded in 2022, Carolina Core FC is a men’s soccer club that will start play in MLS NEXT Pro league in 2024. Former MLS star Eddie Pope is the chief sporting officer of the team that will hold its home matches in High Point at Truist Point, the same downtown High Point stadium the Rockers use for home games.
MLS NEXT Pro is a 27-team league in the US and Canada that’s meant to “complete the pro player pathway… grow the game through innovation and diversity, bringing professional soccer to new communities.”
The big reveal party – at Gypsy Road Brewing at 1105 E. Mountain St. in Kernersville – begins with the brand reveal at 4 p.m. Team leaders will unveil the team’s “cutting-edge logo.” That will be followed by comments from MLS NEXT PRO President Charles Altchek.
According to a media invite to the event, “This celebration signifies more than just the unveiling of our brand and logo; it embodies the unity and unwavering support that defines Carolina Core FC. This event serves as an appreciation for our passionate fans, supporters, and local media, all of whom have played a pivotal role in our journey.”
The logo reveal will be followed by a party with a DJ, food trucks, giveaways, and a chance to win two round-trip flights out of Piedmont Triad International Airport courtesy of Silver Airways.
Team merchandise will also be on sale as well.
At 7 p.m., league officials from MLS NEXT Pro take the stage to explain the process behind the brand’s development and provide business and league updates.
One very exciting thing is that the majority of MLS NEXT Pro matches will be available streaming live on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
We’ll see how exciting it is when the supporters and fans choose to buy tickets.
