In just a few weeks, we will be going to the polls in untold numbers to perform our civic duty. This is a very crucial and pivotal election this term. November 5, 2024, we must vote for the best candidate who closely aligns with our innate values. At this time, many of our candidate’s behavior is on full display for all to see. So, who do we vote for? Well, allow me to introduce you to one candidate who is running for the position of Board of Commissioner in District 6. Her name is Maritza Gomez.

I don’t know about you but there are certain qualities that I admire in those candidates who are vying for a position in our government; be it, local, state or federal. I want someone who is a team player: one who can sit down together with the opposition and solve the issues and concerns of one’s constituency without being contemptible. One who is emotionally mature enough to engage without being ornery and disrespectful. One who is a critical thinker. Yes, someone who is intellectually disciplined and skillful at evaluating the many problems he/she will encounter on a daily basis. I have overheard many conversations concerning our upcoming elections and I discern that many of us are tired of the present political climate; and we want nothing more than to seat someone for the position of Board of Commissioner (in District 6) who shares our values and wants to serve “we the people” and not themselves.

Well, let’s take a closer look at Maritza Gomez to serve us. She is a first-generation Cuban American. She will ensure that your rights are protected at the local level from over-burdensome taxes and that your property rights are protected by a well-funded and accountable sheriff’s department. She will vote to cut waste from the county budget and to lower taxes, to incentivize business growth and investment. She is a fighter, and this is what we need in our local government. She will relentlessly advocate for parents, children, and taxpayers. She will be fiercely dedicated to defending your interest and not her own. Wow…wouldn’t this be refreshing! Well, this can’t happen unless you vote for her! On November 5, 2024, when you go to the polls and you see her name…consider voting for her; give her a chance, you won’t regret it!
