A Plea For Good Candidates
Dear Editor,
Is Guilford County on the way to Pottersville?
This Friday, Dec. 15 is the deadline for 2024 candidates filing in Guilford County. Think about it – our county is in tough shape. Guilford County Schools have 49 percent test score pass rates. Record homicide rates passing 70 for 2023 in our area. The poverty rate is 17 percent versus North Carolina’s average of 12 percent. And 50 percent of homes are owned by occupants in Greensboro versus 65 percent in NC.
Homelessness continues to escalate in our area. Don’t forget that a record property tax increase of 25 percent to 30 percent took place in 2022 by these Democrat leaders by not resetting the tax rate after property reevaluations. They also nixed the idea of placing our nation’s motto, “In God We Trust,” on prominent Guilford County buildings for free with private donations!
We need some change in the Guilford County Board of Commissioners leadership. Please consider filing if you live in Districts 4, 5, 6 or 8. Please ask others you know who you think might be good county leaders that live in Guilford County Districts 4, 5, 6, and 8. We need a change at the top!
An angel gets its wings every time a filing bell rings this Christmas!
Merry Christmas, One and All,
Joe Plante
Don’t forget to mention that indicative of our County Govt leadership & policies, 37% of our residents qualify for free health care for indigents – Medicaid. Medicaid is funded by the our State & Federal governments – the taxpayer.
Name something our govt does well.

I remember when Hammer was going to win a write-in campaign…. Maybe one day he take over and help Greensboro live up to its potential.
