Goodbye To Tucker
Dear Editor,
Unfortunately Tucker Carlson is out at Fox News.
The official line is they parted ways, but there are rumblings he was actually let go by the organization. I’m not sure we will ever know the truth, but one thing is for sure, and that is a lot of people are not happy. Reports are Fox Nation subscriptions are falling heavily and people are inundating the organization with threats of abandonment. The real story behind what prompted this probably won’t be known for a while but we’ll see.
I personally enjoyed Carlson even though I didn’t agree with his stances all the time. One thing about him was he said what he thought and I admire that. Even though you don’t agree with someone doesn’t mean you have to try to ruin their lives. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens next.
On a more positive note, my friend Mark Robinson officially announced his intention to run for governor of NC. I was very happy to hear the official announcement and wish I could have been there. Now I’m looking forward to watching the various talking heads start carrying water for the (National Socialist) Democrat Party here in NC, using their standard tactic of hiding behind their various nom-de-plumes. Yes, there are some on the right that also choose to not post with their own name and I really wish they would.
Do I agree with Mark on everything? No, I don’t, but at least with Mark you know exactly where he stands, unlike those creatures I refer to as professional politicians, which he is not.
One thing I have seen brought up by some of those I referred to earlier about Mark has to do with an abortion. Let me just say this about that … “But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone…”
No, Chris and chris and the rest, I am not comparing Mark to Jesus. He would justifiably whip my butt if I did, so don’t even try to go there. You know quite well what I am pointing out.
I’ve got my coffee, so let the slings and arrows begin.
Go, Mark!
Carpe diem,
Alan Marshall
Vote For Mark Robinson
Dear Editor,
Please vote for Mark Robinson as our new governor of NC! He is a no-nonsense kind of guy and exactly what the State of North Carolina and our country needs right now! Beware, the media will try to chew him up and spit him out! No problem, Mark Robinson handles adversity very well!
Jim Donaldson
Mark Robinson is an anti-science, homophobic, hypocritical loser that represents all that is wrong with the mondern conservative movement. I hope he is the republican nominee so Democrats can hold the office to balance our republican State General Assembly. Because thankfully you can’t gerrymander statewide elections so the majority rules.
Gee Chris, tell us all how you really feel.
Did I short circuit what would have been your obvious argument and attack against Mark?
Not at all. Mark would be an awful choice for NC Governor. Just here to remind people why.
You don’t admire Chris for sharing what he thinks? Seems like a double standard, Alan “Confederate Sympathizer” Marshall.
Hey Julio lm also a confederate sympathizer my family also had relatives who fought for the cause of Southern Independence. Go get a taco
And what’s wrong with sympathizing with people who wish to peacefully leave a political union?
Was the American Revolution immoral?
Fox was always umbilically connected to the Neocon Swamp. They would have canned Carlson long ago except for his stellar ratings. Carlson tip-toed closer to the truth than anyone else.
Turkish proverb: “When you tell the truth, have one foot in the stirrup.”
He very publicly was proven to have lied about election fraud in order to feed the MAGA crowd for ratings. And it cost FoxNews 3/4 of a billion dollars and you call him a truth teller. WOw. Just Wow.
You are factually incorrect in both sentences. And so blatantly that I cannot attribute it to ignorance but rather to malice. Thus I’ll ignore you henceforth.

Lol, how do you breathe with your head so deep in the sand. Lol
You’re right, Healey Garages. I have caught this guy in several lies over the last couple of years, which is why is nickname is Lying Chris.
He has no allegiance to truth. His reason for being here is so that he can feel superior, by imagining that he is scoring points at the expense of conservatives. His goal is not to arrive at the truth through respectful and reasoned debate. His goal is to assuage his inferiority complex.
He’s just a sorry little wanker.
Austin thinks because he doesn’t believe me, it is therefore a ‘lie’. Typical tactic of someone who pushes misinformation as Austin enjoys doing. He will also just say your sources are wrong with no explanation or alternative sources. And when all else fails he just calls you names and runs away.
So is the life of a people who push misinformation.
No, you actually lie. A couple of years ago you smeared me as a racist, but had to publicly withdraw that lie and apologise to me. Remember?
Earlier this year you referred to conservatives as rednecks who swill beer over the back of their pick-up trucks, and a couple of months later you lied and claimed you never said that.
And last year you provided a link to data that you claimed supported your position – but it demonstrated the exact opposite. When caught in that lie I will never forget your response : “Whoops”. Whoops indeed, you chronic liar.
You’re even lying about me now.
All you do is lie, you despicable little jerk.
Re. The Downtown Trolley, it may be convenient and fun, but it will add more expense for the taxpayers. Wish our overall budget were well conceived so we could easily offer this service.
Commercial bus transportation is a necessity, but do we need the LARGE busses traveling the routes with less than ten people. Has a study been done of the routes, number of riders at different times of days? If the number of riders is truly determined to increase in the coming years and we do not want to waste $ on smaller, more efficient busses, fine. I would like a short, easy to read analysis of the need and projected need for the number and size of these huge busses.
Another reason for not having to pay GSO city tribute
I’m voting for Mark Robinson. Just sent him a contribution.
I’ll miss Tucker hope he lands in a great job I will be tuning in. Mark Robinson has my vote as well as all the friends I’ve talked with not to mention all of my inbreed relatives dead and living. Go Mark.
Alan, I have no problem with people using pseudonyms in these, or any, comment columns. A classic marker of a free country is not just free speech but anonymous free speech. The Nazis claimed that Germany enjoyed free speech in the 1930’s – and that was true in itself – but who dare affix their name to a critique of Hitler? That’s why anonymity is essential.
My own dear old country has a corner of Hyde Park where anyone and everyone can get on their soapbox and deliver a speech about anything, in whatever terms they please. Speakers’ Corner does not require you to register or identify yourself or request a permit, because Britain is a free country (less so than it was). And it is the anonymity that allows the freedom to assail our leaders and our losers, among others.
Sadly, the forum has been largely taken over by muslim Imams, but here is another reason for anonymity. If I choose to assail Islam, or even proffer an image of their prophet, I risk becoming a victim of unhinged religious zealots. They’re trying to destroy freedom of speech and open, free debate. But an anonymous speaker is protected from their thuggish intolerance.
The message must be allowed to be put in the public forum. The identity of the messenger is irrelevant.
All very good points Austin and I respect your position. My statement was of a personal nature only because I believe if you have an opinion you should be prepared to own it, but again that is ‘the way I roll’ as I say.
I realize I may have insulted others like Rebel, which was not my intention. But as you point out there are some, and you’ve seen and experienced them here. I, and I’m sure you as well, will continue to sign my name and take responsibility for what I say. If the time comes to defend it, let’s just say “…cold dead hand…” is not off the table and as is spoken of in the Koran, I WILL have me slaves in Paradise.
Alan I have never felt you’ve insulted me in any way. We may not always see things in the same light but it’s ok to disagree, you always say what you think and so do I. Just wanted
you to know you haven’t ever hurt my feelings unlike chris I have thick skin. So keep preaching and always keep the powder dry.
I love how you are always thinking of me!
Okay. That’s a common position, that people should acknowledge the sentiments they express. That’s fine, but the option simply to express those sentiments anonymously must also be available – in any society that makes any claim to liberty. Without this option unpopular and/or controversial opinions would never appear in public discourse, and what passes for debate would more closely resemble the kind of “debate” they had in the USSR and other totalitarian societies. Everyone would toe the line, drink the KoolAid, and sound like that inveterate idiot of these columns, Lying Chris.
It would be like the chorus of sheep in Animal Farm.
Anonymity is an essential element of freedom of speech.
Well said Austin
Hollering & stomping your feet, shouting people down, etc., is the standard tactic when you have no supporting argument.
I guess you missed the 2022 statewide judicial elections, where a clear majority of statewide voters rejected the politics of a woke Supreme Court. Whatever else Mark Robinson might be he is no woke radical, and I believe he would trounce any woke Democrat without the help of gerrymandering…
Well spoken Sir, well spoken. I salute you.
