On Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, Metro 911 received a call or calls from the home of Greensboro City Manager Tai Jaiyeoba at 10 Postbridge Court in Greensboro.
Greensboro police officers responded to the call or calls.
In North Carolina, calls to 911 are public records and should be provided to the public on request. Police reports are also public records. In cases of ongoing criminal investigations, police reports may be withheld, but in this case there is no evidence of an ongoing criminal investigation.
The incidents, according to people who have been told about them, involve Jaiyeoba and his daughter. A later incident involved Jaiyeoba needing medical attention. According to a source who wishes to remain anonymous, Jaiyeoba had a dislocated shoulder and needed medical treatment. It has also been reported that Jaiyeoba was seen with his arm in a sling over the holidays, reportedly as the result of a fall.
Is this a case of a daughter trying to embarrass her father, the city manager, by calling 911?
It could be, but because the city refuses to release the police report and the 911 call or calls, that cannot be ascertained by the public.
Mayor Nancy Vaughan confirmed that an incident did occur at Jaiyeoba’s house and that there was a police report and calls to 911. But Vaughan declined to speak further about the matter.
City Attorney Chuck Watts would not confirm or deny any of the information about the incident but did agree that both police reports and 911 calls are public records and should be released to the public in a “reasonable” amount of time.
The Rhino Times made a public records request for the police reports and recordings of the 911 calls on Monday, Jan. 15. According to the City of Greensboro public records request website, “Staff is searching for the records.”
Neither police reports nor 911 calls are difficult to find. Perhaps when the city staff “finds” the records, another request will be made for a record of where staff searched and didn’t find the requested information.
John,
Please assign someone to make a formal, daily request for the information. Please keep records of any and all replies complete with names of those you speak with. As you pointed out this information is technically the property of the citizens of GSO and they have a right to it…ALL.
I myself plan on staying tuned for more.
God if you knew how many out of town trips Danny Rogers and his driver and commanders took you would flip out… over 5 yrs… I think it could be over hundred thousand
Like the cat that ate the cheese and waited beside the mouse hole, I too shall wait with “baited” breath….
LOA.. another embarrassment for our city. Guess he brought the Charlotte with him.
No, he brought the Nigeria with him.
Austin, that was uncalled for. You can do better than that, and if you can’t, then please go back where you came from.
Jaiyeoba is from Nigeria.
Didn’t you know that?
Austin, I don’t care where he’s from. This is America, and MOST of us don’t judge people based on where they are from. It’s wrong. Feel free to judge the manager on his competence and character (or lack thereof. You won’t get any argument from me. But ethnicity, skin color and national origin have nothing to do with it.
Oh please, spare me your fake outrage.
There’s nothing wrong with pointing out a fact – but you keep clutching your pearls.

And there’s nothing wrong with knowing the culture people come from. It tells us a lot about them, Saint Wayne.
PS
Why don’t you tell him to go back where he came from…?
Dude is from Nigeria. They have a different culture there. We have our own. It has been obvious from day one that Toby here doesn’t see things the same way the majority of the citizens do, this isn’t Charlotte nor Nigeria. What’s the problem? Austin only stated a fact & he gets attacked. Tell us you’re a demonrat without saying your a demonrat.
Can someone show tai how to tie a tie, please? That’s the first thing wrong with this.
Honestly, what do you expect from a city council where the Mayor and most of the council members are democrat? This example is straight from their playbook!
I hope it is nothing serious. But why all the secrecy?
Somebody is playing CYA on this to be sure and we will never know. They will hope it just is forgotten and go away. Keep on it Rhino!!!
No, not our city leaders failing to expose the activities of those involved in management of our city? These leaders are always proclaiming how transparent they are. They even emphasize this with all their dog and pony shows across the city. Believe me, I have attended some of these events and they are not listening or acting on your concerns!
Certainly, you believe these leaders that profess how transparent they are? Just don’t ask about the Feb. 10, 2023 incident near Golden Gate Drive where 2 off-duty Greensboro Police Officer’s got in a tangled web while trying to rob a well-known Greensboro Drug Dealer at 5:30 am in the morning! It’s remarkable how this event suddenly disappeared from the Greensboro Police crime event website, furthermore to the best of my knowledge these criminals were not prosecuted? It appears some of our city leaders should be in jail and not managing our city on a day-to-day basis!
Jim Donaldson
So typical. Just release the damn 911 information and be done with it. Trying to hide behind your position only proves you shouldn’t be there in the first place.
Heck who knows but if he acted in good faith to disciplining his kids….so be it.

Great work by John Hammer.
It’s called journalism.

Public Sector parasites always circle the wagons when the truth of their malfeasance/incompetence/profligacy is about to be exposed. So when they say they’re “searching for the records” it’s obviously a pathetic lie.

And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. -Holy Bible / King James Version
There is no “searching for the records” since they already exist in digital form. The “searching” is to get more time to produce them to the public.
Sounds domestic related, which by law, shall be enforced and charged, if an assault occurred. Maybe one of the city manager’s numerous assistants, or assistant’s assistants, can help find those mysterious records. But that is an entirely different issue.
All police calls are available to the public via the P2C online records. But if it’s like when I call for my neighborhood, as a Community Watch Leader, no record is ever posted for police calls. This however, is suspicious. It was at a particular residence and there was an injury… a mandated report. This manager does not consider himself a normal citizen or public servant in so many ways. Try to get a meeting set up with him, as a citizen who pays his salary. If you want more info on him all you have to do is make a few inquiries at Charlotte. He was about to be fired. He is arrogant and thinks he is better than Greensboro citizens. He has proven this time and again. I am sorry for his personal troubles, but don’t we all have those. We are normal citizens and a report is posted if there is an injury. Lose this guy as our “leader” and wish him well in life.
You’re right. He was about to be fired by a Democrat Charlotte City Council but he jumped before he was pushed. Unfortunately for us, he jumped to Greensboro, and our fawning council decided to pay him $6,000 PER WEEK.
His most noteworthy accomplishment while inflicting himself on Charlotte was the creation of a huge BLM – Black Lives Matter – mural in the downtown district.
Really.
He must be a big supporter of BLM.
But. . . . . .it counts as a DEI hire.
If I had seven daughters like him, I’d probably be fighting with one everyday . It sounds like one took the fight to him.
Yep – SEVEN kids.
So much for “Save the Planet”.
I’m guessing you’ve probably already done it but in case not, don’t just ask for the 911 calls or the incident report ask for a copy of the CAD/rms report
Additionally, lots of agencies have a messaging app so inquire about a time window for any messaging apps and any text messages at all even on officers individual or agency cell phones that were sent regarding that call to and from anyone
Our Mandate Mayor and certain council members are used to preferential treatment by our police and bureaucracy. Unsupervised underage drinking parties, speeding around with a concealed stolen gun, or being “asleep” behind the wheel of a running vehicle in a shady parking lot in the wee hours are all examples of our city leaders getting special treatment and attention for their and their families brushes with the law. So sad.
Little Bryan “Zack” Mattheny actually did get convicted of that DWI – his second.
Has anyone looked up his address online to see his home. Please take a moment to do this and you will see where our tax dollars are going. Very Grand dose lifestyle for someone that is supposed to be a public service person.
I did. Zillow values at nearly $1 mill. I can’t blame him. Our council is paying him about $300k per year and yet, he has to be the worst city manager hire since I move here 35 years ago. If Charlotte was going to fire the diversity hire, he HAD to be bad at his job.
So the policy going forward is to protect the privacy of all city employees. To not release public information.
