Firemen work 24-hour shifts 24/7 to try to save your burning property or possibly save your life. John, please answer a couple of questions about the salaries of people working for the City of Greensboro. Why do we have a city manager and three assistant city managers? That’s almost $750,000 worth of money a year for four people. And why do we have four people managing the Fire Department? Can someone, please, explain that? And what in the world is senior aps developer, and why do we need five of them? I mean, I know what aps are, but why does the city need five senior aps developers? Editors Note: The city has over 3,000 employees, so having a manager and three assistant managers is not unusual for a staff of that size. It is a senior application developer, and since what most people do every day involves using computers, if the city didn’t have these employees it would have to outsource the work. The Fire Department has one chief, so I don’t know about four people managing it.

I am so sick of hearing the civil rights museum complaining because they think they’ve been treated unfairly. And I heard that they had an appointment with Duke Energy for a bill of $18,000 where they haven’t even paid the security deposit. You know? And that they’ve been treated unfairly. If it were an individual’s power bill, it would be two months and y’all would threatened, you know, turn off their service. And, then, they’ve got to pay a reinstatement fee. So it’s only fair that you treat them the same way. They’ve been whining all these years about they feel like their loans should be forgiven.

Most people don’t realize it, but CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, they want Trump to fail. Bad. Along with the Greensboro news. Failing means people getting laid off, losing their homes, losing their cars, not having money to send their children to college. That’s what they want. And people are falling for it. The Greensboro news is the worst. Recently they had a person on a gurney dead and Trump standing there saying, we got you covered. They don’t know what his healthcare bill is. They don’t even know, but they come up with that anyway. It shouldn’t be allowed. They should be reporting the news. That’s what the news was set up for when the Constitution and all was formed was to let the people know, not to take one side. This is not going to end. But I believe they’re going to be the losers.

I noticed over Memorial Day, I saw a lot of the Confederate flags hanging up at cemeteries in Greensboro, and around some of the other counties. But I noticed they’re not hanging up the Confederate General Lee flag like you used to see on top of the TV as General Lee. They’re actually flying the real Confederate flag now. It looks so much like the US flag, if you didn’t pay attention to it, you wouldn’t even know it was a Confederate flag. It’s red, white and blue with stars with stripes. And I just think it’s kind of interesting, because I went to a graveyard over here off Guilford College Road and there was two actual Confederate soldiers buried there, and since the graveyard has declined, it is now owned by an African-American group.

I’m 82-years-old, and I cannot possibly understand how a person that’s got the knowledge to be a judge to overrule President Trump’s ban on those people coming in from those seven countries that’s been named that we cannot vet them, because they got no embassy there. How they can have that much hate for him to put the lives of the people, the citizens of this country, in jeopardy, and some of the Democrats walk around and they want to get rid of Trump and let them all come in. People need to pay attention to no trespassing signs posted on private properties. They are there for a reason, to warn you of potential dangers unknown to you. Take heed. Don’t go boldly. I’m just sitting here watching Fox8. And I just saw Sharon Hightower on here saying that we don’t need to give our police a raise. How dense is this woman? I mean, really? I am sick and tired of these councilmembers sitting up there running their mouths when the taxpayers are paying them. I think Hightower needs to resign. The City Council should limit Sharon Hightower’s speeches to three minutes like the people from the floor, because everything she says does not make sense and nobody understands nothing she’s saying. Tuesday, June 6, another anniversary, the 73rd D-Day, the Longest Day, has come and gone. Per usual, I saw nothing in the daily fish wrap about it. Perhaps 73 years is ancient history for the staff running the show at the N&R. They may be members of the X generation or even 20-something snowflakes, but that is still no excuse to not mention something about arguably the most-important date in history. I cringe to think that some of their staff are baby boomers who in all likelihood had fathers who were, indeed, in World War II. How very sad there was no mention at all. If they had been in Bedford, Virginia, like me this past Tuesday, they may have had a different perspective of June 6. How very sad. Apparently, they don’t.

You know what? We have computers doing all our stuff down at the courthouse. And a friend of mine, he went to court for beating up on his wife. He got paroled. He never saw one of the parole officers. He never reported to one. He was supposed to, I guess. But the person never came out to verify anything. But, anyway, back to what I’m getting at. A couple of nights ago he beat up his wife again. And cops got involved. And nothing come up in the system. His parole is missing in the system. And this is the same county he got in trouble in before. My question is, if he was on parole in Guilford County for spousal abuse and everything, and, then it’s been a couple of years and he does it again. Well, it’s not been that long. It’s been two years. But nothing is showing up in the system.

Yes, when will the City of Greensboro get rid of that albatross, that civil rights museum, that’s sucking the city dry? They can’t even pay their electric bills. So I think the best thing to do is to shut it down, put something else in its place. It’s not the attraction that they thought it would be. And it’s really a waste. Yes, I’m calling in regard to a call I placed to the City of Greensboro three months ago about five streetlights being out on Old Burlington Road. I was informed that the information would be passed on to Duke Energy. And the streetlights are still out. And these five lights have been out for like three years.
