The Guilford County Board of Commissioners will be earning their salaries on Thursday, Jan. 23 and Friday, Jan. 24.

That’s because the county’s commissioners – along with other key county staff – will take part in the first of two retreats, where the board spends almost two full days doing a deep dive into issues affecting the county and hearing reports from county department heads.

This first 2025 retreat will be at the North Carolina A&T State University Alumni-Foundation Event Center. It will start at 8:30 on Thursday (actually, usually they get a later start than planned) and the board will focus on annual budget planning considerations such as the coming fiscal 2025-2026 county budget.

The board will also discuss its priorities and “future operational goals” and receive information from county staff on current initiatives.

Anyone who wants to come watch can and anyone with a computer or smartphone who wants to stay home can watch as well.

The county will offer a virtual viewing option through Zoom as well as a livestream option on Guilford County’s Facebook page.

Those who want to watch using Zoom on a computer, tablet or smartphone should point their devices to https://www.zoomgov.com/j/1600089374 and register, selecting the option to join from the confirmation email prior to the meeting start and choosing one of the following audio options: (1) Use your computer, tablet or smartphone’s speaker (headphones are recommended) or (2) Select “Use Telephone” after joining the webinar, call (646) 828-7666 and enter the webinar ID 160 008 9374 if required to do so.
