High Point University is inviting all members of the community to its campus for a slew of free cultural events that will be taking place this winter and spring with a variety of art, music, theater performances and more – along with a good number of distinguished speakers who’ll visit the campus.

There’s even a phone app – the HPU Community App – that lets you receive notifications about upcoming performances and shows.
There are way too many events to list here, but one upcoming event will be at the Sechrest Art Gallery at the university, which will feature the sculptural exhibit “Patience… & However Possible” by Nieko McDaniel.
That show, which is already underway and will be open until Friday, Feb. 16, features sculptures created with materials that “have an inherent history and function but are repurposed to fit the artist’s vision.”
The university’s Sechrest Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to5 p.m.
Another upcoming event at High Point University is a choral concert featuring the combined university choirs, which will perform for campus members and families during the Spring Family Weekend Choral Concert on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pauline Theatre in the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. As for theater, the school’s Department of Theater and Dance will present “The Real Inspector Hound” by Tom Stoppard at the Empty Space Theatre this February. The play, directed by John Galas, is described as “a lampoon of feuding theatre critics who are swept into the whodunit they are viewing.” Complimentary tickets for that event are available and required.
Also in February, the university will put on a piano chamber music recital that will include music by Brahms and Mendelssohn. No tickets are required.
On the slate for late winter and spring as well, the university is putting on an international exhibition of graphic design and new media, a Spring dance concert, a Chambers Ensemble Concert, a Clarinet and Percussion Ensemble Concert, a Jazz Concert, a Winds Ensemble Concert and a whole lot more.
