Our Money Supports Drug Users
Dear Editor,
There’s a report that there is a new variation on fentanyl-laced drugs. The report says they are now mixing horse tranquilizers into the drugs and, as a result, Narcan is rendered nearly or completely ineffective.
Meanwhile, in places like the People’s Republic of California, they’re giving out crack pipes and other such items encouraging the continuation of this type of behavior. More money is being spent to support drug users and their habits than trying to cure them. That’s state and federal taxpayer money, our money, encouraging these actions. And don’t think the problem is only out here. We have it here in North Carolina as well, just not quite as bad. But remember what starts on the West Coast creeps across the country and will become a problem in major North Carolina cities. Look at other locations like New York City, where they, in essence, decriminalized so many things that they are turning into a third world hellhole. (Sorry, NYC, but the truth hurts.)
Remember, these actions are the results of elected officials. People who are supposed to be representing “we the people.”
The other thing that’s very scary is how some Republican candidates are going about trying to raise money. What it boils down to, IMHO, is they are in essence buying votes. Has our system become so broken that they are being allowed to resort to this? Worse, are we so numb to it all that we are allowing it to happen? Keep in mind these people could (in some cases, have) begun acting in the interest of others, both in and out of this state, ignoring the people who put them there to represent them. They have, in a few cases, done what their party masters direct instead of those they are supposed to be working for. I believe the term for that is socialism.
More and more the people are losing control of their government and country, and the primary reason they are getting away with all this is because people have become so apathetic that all they want to do is complain, not act.
We need to eliminate this “early voting” nonsense, make Election Day a federal holiday and only allow for “early voting” to take place starting the Friday prior to Election Day.
But what do I know? I’m a “right wing radical nut job” who only cares about other WASPs.
Carpe diem,
Alan Marshall
More drama queen ranting from Alan. Yawn.
Early voting is what allows more people to vote given we still have voting on Tuesdays when many people can’t take off of work to vote at a convent time. But Alan wants his fear mongering to be an excuse to reduce your right to vote because the republicans continue to lose voters with their restrictive policies reducing American’s personal rights and freedoms.
Vote! It is YOUR RIGHT!
Answer me this little man (I’m assuming here), how did we manage to hold elections BEFORE the early voting scam the forerunner of the (National Socialist) Democrat Party created a while back.
As for “… when many people can’t take off of work to vote at a convent time.”, I notice you (as always) left out the part about opening up voting starting on the Friday prior to Election Day. I believe that’s called lying by omission.
Finally, please explain your other lie with your “…excuse to reduce your right to vote…” since I have consistently encouraged people to get out and vote.
I will give you credit for your “Vote! It is YOUR RIGHT” comment. But you only got it half right…it’s your right AND your DUTY
Please, noone tell Alan that his money already goes to support drug users. Keeping them alive with Narcan, and treating them in hospitals, at the public health office and methadone clinics, not to mention all those big G programs like housing vouchers and food stamps (yeah, I know it’s all electronic now). Giving out pipes to try to get addicts to smoke instead of inject does seem like spitting in the wind, but at least it gives those working the streets the opportunity to meet and, hopefully get those same people into a program that will help. Heck, even Sheriff Andy Taylor allowed Otis to sleep his drunks off in the jail instead of on the streets. Was that a misappropriation of Mayberry’s taxpayer’s dollars?
There’s a lot of hard hearts that don’t want a dime of their money spent to help their fellow man and the numbers are growing larger every day. The Haves, just can’t seem to get over the fact that they need to help the Have-Nots survive or it all turns into anarchy.
The Grand New Parties, formally the GOP, can’t seem to find their way back to their true base, so they have to find more and more outrageous ways to make their voices heard, and they are all about spending money to make money, power, of just to get their tantrum-fit way. Just another page torn from the old-school, payola, pay to play Democrat handbook. It was as wrong then as it is now.
Umm.. you do realize we give out crack pipes and needles in Greensboro right? It’s not just commiefornia.
Alan isn’t much for facts or truth.
Read the letter Chris. I DID say we did it here as well, just not on rheir scale. Your accusation, as most of the time with you, has no base.
Riiiiight. As usual your absence of facts and data. Just more drama queen ranting. But you be you. For exmple, you ignore that a good deal of the safe drug usage program funding comes from the opioid lawsuit settlement fund. So, tell us Alan ‘the great truth teller’ what data did you use to make claim that CA is spending more to help drug users than getting them off drugs? Versus NC? Or was your opinion driven more by your dislike of the most liberal state in the US?
Politicians have been buying votes almost forever. When they buy votes with their own money, that’s illegal. When they buy votes with our money, that’s business as usual.
Please show me where I said or implied anything like what you are trying to falsely accuse of me, that being I’m an uncaring individual.
Please show me where “More money is being spent to support drug users and their habits than trying to cure them.” implies what you seem to be accusing me of. My statement says more is being spent to encourage their habit then is to cure them, something that needs to be reversed.
Finally, I’m hoping your “There’s a lot of hard hearts…” paragraph isn’t meant to imply that I’m an uncaring individual. I’m more then willing to HELP someone, but I will not SUPPORT them. That’s how this problem has gotten to this level
