You Asked For It, You Got It
Dear Editor,
The Greensboro City Council is seriously considering (read; it WILL happen) a food tax on prepared food and beverages.
You asked for it, you got it.
But wait! It gets better! Other members of the (National Socialist) Democrat Party want to get in on the action!
County Commissioner Chairman Skippy Alston not only thought it was a good idea, he ran it across the line by saying it was a great idea if it included County residents as well! (Read; working on a way to make it happen)
In a quote from Alston to the Rhino Times…” When Alston was asked if he expected to back the proposed new food tax he said “Yes,” but he added that it depended on how the money would be distributed.”
“The African American community must get its fair share of the funds it will generate,” he said.”
I’m sorry, what was that? “…must get its fair share of the funds it will generate,” he said.” Did I read that right? I could swear he is implying that black businesses don’t get treated fairly by the County. If I’m reading that wrong, please let me know. And if black businesses are not getting their fair share I would be the first to call out who ever it is that’s responsible.
When he was challenged in the article he said “…he did not mean to imply that.” He said he just wanted to make sure “…there should be guardrails in place to see that the black community gets its share of the proceeds.” Again, what are you implying? Who would be responsible for creating these guardrails? And why do Democrats always try to find some way to get race involved?
Former Guilford County Commissioner Justin Conrad really said it best; “If you want the tax, put it on the ballot.” Of course you could bet it wouldn’t get far so stay tuned for their (the (NS)DP) planning session since they currently hold the majority.
Fortunately, this would require approval at the state level and since the Republicans hold the majority there we are safe for now…for now.
So, all you restaurants outside the city limits of Greensboro get ready for a rush on business if (when) this shakedown goes through.
Let the name calling begin!
Carpe Diem

Alan, I like the way that you put things so eloquently. Keep them coming.
Thank you
I responded to skips quote but the original article is not up today. I’m just curious as to what is “a fair share”. skips such a racist.
Yep, you read it correctly. Skip proved to all he is the top racist in the county.
And our incompetent Mayor Nancy Vaughan reasoning for passing this prepared food tax is: “All the other large Cities are doing this so Greensboro must do also just to compete”! Mayor Vaughan our city under your leadership already has the distinction of the highest taxed City per capita in NC, the Highest Crime Rate (#13 in the Nation), your Police force is a disaster, accidents and power outages are common due to this City’s failure to enforce traffic law, and we have lost business after business here! What other categories do you wish to lead the destruction of our city in?

Okay Alan, if the name calling must begin, who’s heard of “Skippy the Bush Kangaroo”..? It was a children’s TV show when I was a little lad in Wales, set in the Australian outback. I loved that show, even though everything was Black & White (that’s the televisions, not the people).
Carping Chris will undoubtedly call me a racist and a bigot for referring to Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, but it was a real TV show, and it had nothing to do with race.
Alan, not sure if you read the local fishwrap, this past Sunday queen nancakes had an article explaining why the food tax is a good idea. She used the Tanger center as an example. She said using the center’s data that a lot of people from out of the county bought tickets. I ask her why not ask the same from skip, how many people from out of town bought actual paying tickets in the last 6 months or last year to his downtown money pit . PAYING tickets so please don’t include the school children’s tickets that are paid for by the county schools aka the taxpayers. I think this is a fair question since taxpayers have been footing the bill and for this bottomless money pit. Stand and be a man skip, answer the question.
There is an old saying…figures lie and liars figure. In my personal opinion we are seeing a classic example here.
More simply, just leave the County.
Bad idea. Tax stupidity and racism and illegal immigrants and illegal drugs.
If you did that you’d wipe out the national debt in about a week
Tax, tax, tax. Greensboro is bleeding dry with taxes. Already a racist town, our leaders only perpetuate the problem when they imply discrimination exists. If anything, it is insulting to the Caucasian community to say they are being treated better than others. For example, what is the ratio of races within the Section 8 population? And how many Caucasian staff are employed at the Greensboro Housing Authority?
Your taxes are already being used to fund the illegal immigrants and drugs. Thank your local Democrat newbie in DC . Of course she didn’t place it in her neighborhood.
Hey, Skippy, just what is the black community’s fair share?
What has Skip actually done for the black community that he professes to love so much? Has he helped create more jobs for blacks? Has he done anything to improve their living conditions? Has he done anything at all to improve their quality of life?
The answer to all of the above is “Nothing”. He only needs the black community around so he can have someone to pander to. He takes every advantage of skin color to improve his own station in life(how much taxpayer money has dissappeared directly into his pockets from the CRM?), all the while only exacerbating the social problems in the black community. Like all the other race baiters, he’ll be out of a job, unless he can keep the black community down, out, and angry. They should be angry, with people like Skip being their mouth-piece.
