There are quite a few things that the state of North Carolina doesn’t have, but it can no longer be said that the state doesn’t have its own professional bull-riding team.
And that’s no bull: Starting this week, North Carolina will have the Winston-Salem-based “Carolina Cowboys” team – which is one of eight founding teams in the new Professional Bull Riders Team Series, known as “PBR” for short.
The group has some impressive roots. It’s operated by Richard Childress Racing and the team’s front office will be led by General Manager Austin Dillon and Assistant General Manager Tiffany Davis.
Highly successful bull rider Jerome Davis will be the coach of the team.
The bull-riding team’s first home stand will be at LVJM Coliseum in Winston-Salem, from Friday, Sept 9 to Sunday, Sep. 11.
However, the team or riders will make a public appearance this weekend, on Saturday, May 28 in Charlotte, as part of another sporting event. On May 28, during NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the Carolina Cowboys will make their first team appearance. Nearly the entire team will be there to watch on as General Manager Dillon, the 2018 Daytona 500 Champion, races in Charlotte at NASCAR’s longest race.
Earlier in May, in Arlington, Texas, the team selected its first five riders during the first-ever PBR Team Series Draft. PBR World Champion Daylong Swearingen and rising star Mason Taylor are now two of the riders on the roster for the state’s first-ever professional bull-riding team.
