Harsher Penalties Are Needed
Dear Editor,
As of this writing, 18 children and 1 adult are dead in Texas at the hands of a maniacal animal that entered an elementary school and began shooting. By the time this is published the count could go higher.
Already the anti-gun clowns are screaming for more gun control, but what I’m not hearing from the same mob is the need for harsher punishment for the uncaring blobs of flesh that use those inanimate objects to commit these horrendous crimes. In fact, they will be the first ones to declare these animals as needing help due to some BS about how their father abused them or their mother hated them. Then they’ll holler about how we need to not lock them up for the rest of their miserable lives but send them to a “hospital” to try to get them right. Bull!
Assuming they are still alive when caught, lock them in a 10×10 room until they can be tried, and assuming they are found guilty, immediately take them out to the prison yard, tie them to a stake, line up five people with rifles and end it then and there. If they’re dead, haul the body off and bury it in an unmarked grave.
I now open myself to all the vitriol and ugly language anyone wants to send my way. I don’t care. Say what you want, call me what you want. As long as these things know they’ll still be alive for a while after taking innocent lives, possibly even being back on the streets, it won’t stop. I know it will never end completely, but as long as the mollycoddling goes on, as long as they know they will not get the punishment they deserve they will continue to do it. Don’t believe me? Look at the history.
There is an old saying; “an armed society is a polite society.” I can hear them now – that sort of thing will turn us into the Wild West again. Has anybody checked on how many people were killed back then compared to today? I feel sure that number will be lower than what we have now.
It’s a simple formula; shoot and injure or kill someone and you can’t prove self-defense, there’s a stake in the courtyard with your name on it.
And don’t say all guns should be confiscated. Do you really think you’ll get them all?

Thank you to all the voters who supported Tim Andrew and Crissy Pratt in the recent primary elections.
The New Vision New Direction – GCS team of school board candidates are looking forward to the general elections in November. Working together with the voters of Guilford County we can turn our public schools to a focus on academics in education with the goal of preparing our young people to be productive fellow citizens in our community.
Here’s to facilitating personal growth for every student of Guilford County while providing them with opportunities to find their place in our world today.

Leslie, the winners will probably leave them out until the November election. Signs have been out in Randolph County for over a year. City and County crews mow around them should go ahead and trash them.
Going down the lynch mob path Alan? American justice is working fine to punish these mass killers. No anti-gun nut has ever begged for mercy on a mass school shooter. You are making things up like most modern republicans to fill the gap in conscious over the real problems in our country. Modern republicans are happy to restrict personal freedoms over groups such as Trans community or threat of bankruptcy over talking the LGBTQ community or Diversity (they don’t teach CRT). But expanding background checks? Oh NO!
To top it off, the ‘Blue Lives Matter’ party is going to ignore that TX police with their big scary guns stood outside the school in fear as children where murdered inside. So much for ‘protect’ in protect and serve. I guess their guns are only for protecting themselves…not the children of their community.

Do you even read the garbage you rant about? And of course you have NOTHING to back you silly claim that Dems “…but send them to a “hospital” to try to get them right. ” I have never heard even the most liberal of media types or others make any such comment.

Incorrect Chris. Every cop nowadays is trained to immediately make entry when an active shooter event is occurring. The old tactics of surround and wait no longer apply, and have not applied for several years. These cops should, and hopefully will, be hung out to dry by their agency and every other police officer worth their salt.
Provided that there is no information we are not privy to, no one will be trying to justify their cowardly actions. I predict that they will all be fired in the near future unless they have some ridiculous left wing union protection.

Any rational response to my comment about your assumption the Thin Blue Line would try to cover this up or justify what happened in Texas? I had a bunch of links ready for you showing how both citizens and police officers around the country were calling these cops out for their inaction, but the articles are so prevalent that I should not have to point them out to you.
Grow up and let go of your cop hate buddy. Sure a lot of cops are a bunch of dummies, but you get what you pay for, You are not getting a crop of rocket scientists lining up to be assaulted and ridiculed for $40k a year. By and large though, they hold themselves accountable nowadays. Gone are the days of cops protecting their own, except for deep blue union states where you cannot fire anyone.
By the way, I still don’t see anyone protesting Greensboro High Schools, or the school board itself, over that teacher rapist they just caught. Who knows how many lives that dude has ruined. What, because he didn’t leave a bloody trail of bodies it’s not a big deal? Even the community just shrugs their shoulders at another child rapist teaching and touching our kids. Where is the outrage for those victims? Where is the outrage over the lack of protocols, the lack of accountability, the lack of background checks? Why is it being kept so quiet? Talk about a double standard. Looks like the Thin School Line is still holding strong.

I’ve always said that. You get what you pay for. Don’t expect great things from mediocre government workers. At the same time, you can’t hold them to the standard that society has set for them. Thats not realistic. If you want them to be pros, like a doctor or lawyer, you need to train and pay them on par with expectations. As it stands now, they make as much as the trash man.
Once again, my brother of a different mother, Alan Marshall, is totally spot-on. The biggest problem though, is not heeding the red flags raised by this “specimen’s” behavior. The same can be said about the punk in Buffalo. It’s great that we have these red flags in place. However, it doesn’t do any good if these warnings are not acted upon.

Amen on the election signs being cleaned up after the election is over. Maybe the county or state should pass a bill to fine the candidates $5 per sign for any signs left up 30 days after the election is over! But alas, that probably will never happen since the ones who would have to pass the bill are the same ones who are guilty of the offense!!!
I’m 100% with you Alan except for the punishment. What you propose is too quick let’s go back a little further in time 4 horses and 4 ropes 1 on each arm and leg then let them all go at the same time in public at high noon it won’t take but a couple times and people would get the message. Please don’t think your idea didn’t cross my mind initially. While in this case it might be justified, I at least want to try to be civilized and give them a trial.
To those who ask would I advocate the same punishment if he were proven to be mentally ill, not if he were locked up in an institution for the rest of his natural life and NEVER released. Otherwise yes.

I love sharing stories from the Times to Facebook and try to only to discover that while I am able to share the articles won’t actually open and sometimes when I select share THEN FB will require me to log in to my FB account even though I never log out! Any more you want me to provide back up examples? Just ask. I can even add to the list of ridiculous policies that republicans use as a distraction to the real issue we face as a country that they are unable to provide any real solutions.

– In January of this year, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson said he is “happy to defend” his statement that it isn’t “society’s responsibility to take care of other people’s children.” – Also, during the peak of the covid pandemic, 100% of republicans voted against the Child Tax Credit payment because they wanted to limit payments to only working families…not the millions of families that lost work during the crisis! Let’s also not fail to mention that republicans are against paid family leave and health care guarantees for all children.
School shootings can be virtually stopped with the same procedure practiced in other govt gathering places (have you been to City Hall, or the Courthouse?).
Armed guards and checkpoints. The LEFT is not gonna do that because it will work, and take away their main anti-2nd amendment weapon.
We already have resource officers. (Who during a recent school active shooting event in another state failed to actually protect the children) What do you want now? You want to increase that to include the staff required to search all persons and belongings or metal detectors? Why don’t we just surround the school with fencing and razor wire…heck…cut to the chase and just build prison systems to house kids during school.
Republicans voted down the recent Bill that would expanded Homeland Security to better monitor domestic terrorists such as the grocery store mass shooter….do we need ALL private business to now hire hired guns to protect our citizens? Even the police that DID show up to this school shooting IN MASS…. FAILED to protect these kids.

The day of the shooting in Texas Joe Biden stood up and talked about how it is time for “someone” to do “something.” That MF has been in DC for 50 years as a senator, VP, and now President. Pelosi over 40. Maybe she could introduce a real bill, not the one that all of the liberal, uneducated celebrities keep promoting on social media that has so many exceptions it is useless. Maybe instead of dumping money that is now being wasted for “Covid Relief” they could start having real mental health support for kids like the one in Texas. Maybe a father and mother could raise their kids instead of old grandparents. Maybe when Facebook and Twitter take a break from banning any conservative opinion or stop going after people like Nicholas Sandman with absolute garbage lies (I am sure he is enjoying those checks from the media outlets that slandered him and failed to mention the Black Hebrew National that was spewing hate that day) they could create a logarithm that would see who is posting pictures of guns or snapchatting some girl in Germany that he is going to shoot up a school. I see you griping a lot about Republicans Chris (and I am not a Republican) and name calling but what are your law enforcement solutions. GPD barely makes above the city minimum wage of $15. Their benefits suck. And your liberal new city manager found $70 million extra dollars to bloat the budget while people like me think about where they are driving and how many errands they can run to save gas.
I am sure the Greensboro Underground Railroad will be in full effect so that the same a-holes will be back on council and the county commissioners. They will raise the taxes as much as possible because they do not think it affects the renters. Guess who the tax increases will be passed on to-the renters. These people on all levels of elected government cannot see beyond their own nose.

You even appear to support some of what the bill proposed included such as social media algorithms to better ID the unhinged in our society.

There is no solution to mass shooters that doesn’t involve our country addressing mental health, s?!tyy schools, worthless parents ect. Everyone talks about how other (tiny) countries do not have mass shooters. They also do not have a cultural issue that no one wants to really discuss. Read into that what you wish.

Both parties only want to make the other look bad so they can gain the upper hand next election cycle. They don’t care about truth. Just their propaganda laced stump speeches.
