Predictions are that it will shine, but rain or shine the Greensboro Holiday Parade will begin at noon on Saturday, Dec. 7 on North Greene Street.
The route of the parade is the same as it has been for years, with the Holiday Parade officially beginning on South Greene Street at the Lindsay Street intersection. The parade travels south to West Market Street where the stage is located and what, according to downtown experts, is also the coldest corner in Greensboro. The parade then travels east on Market to North Church Street, turns north and ends back at Lindsay Street.
Traditionally, the biggest crowds on the parade route are on Greene and Market, so if you arrive late and want a good seat, heading over to Church might be a good idea. The problem with being on Church Street is a lot of floats tend to run low on candy in those final blocks.
The Greensboro Holiday Parade, a downtown tradition for over 40 years, is one of the few parades in the state to feature the huge Macy’s style balloons. It also has high school and college bands, floats, dance and drill teams and a lot more.
Since 2020 is right around the corner and is an election year, you can expect to see more than a few candidates riding in the parade.
