The J. H. Adams Inn in High Point has had a lot of special guests over the years, but, on Saturday, Dec. 7, the hotel will have an extra-special guest: The one and only Santa Claus, who, as one can imagine, is immensely busy this time of year.
It’s the tenth year in a row that the hotel has hosted the lovable bearded superstar and there will also be plenty of other festivities at Saturday’s “10th Annual Uptowne High Point Holiday Stroll.”
Mike Smith, who’s handling the publicity for the event at the Inn, said that it will be a special day.
“It’s part of the Uptowne Stroll and there will be free hot chocolate and cookies,” Smith said, adding that there will be plenty of other holiday activities going on in downtown High Point on that day.
The Inn is now decorated in grand Christmas style and is ready to welcome Santa Claus and everyone else this weekend. Santa will be in the lobby from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and, yes, he will be taking note of children’s wishes – not to mention that he’ll be available for photo ops.
Smith said that many people stroll through downtown and end up congregating at the Inn at 1108 North Main Street that day because that’s where the big man is.
When asked if the Inn had the real Santa Claus and not merely an actor dressed as Santa, Smith said it was the genuine deal.
“We have the actual one,” he said. “He actually vacations at the J.H. Adams this time each year because they give him a special deal.”
